I enjoyed participating in the rock 'n roll
new year's festivities at Nancy's Bar
and the late night jam session.
We rocked in the new year.
My son showed up early, but was gone before the cameras came out.
He, like my youngest daughter, had another party to attend at midnight.
My eldest daughter Laura attended, and she sang with the band.

We rocked out at the stroke of midnight and the place was packed.

to get vocal shy bassist Amy Madden to sing!
I had a mix of champagne, vodka, and tequila shots,
so after 2 AM I have little recollection of what happened,
musically speaking.
It was New Year's Eve after all.
Large quantities of alcohol are now reserved
exclusively for special evenings such as these.
As a rule I no longer enjoy drinking more than a couple of small shots.
I used to in my younger days, but those days are long gone.
The headaches simply aren't worth it.
I do clearly recall that I got home from the club by sharing a taxi
with guitarist Jon Paris, and bassist Amy Madden,
and as soon as I got home I fell asleep on the sofa
at about 4 AM.
I woke up reaching for the aspirin
and bottled water at about 6:30 AM,
fed the rabbit, walked the dog around the block,
and then went to bed, sleeping until the afternoon.
I was told the following day that I had sung
The Beatles' song "Come Together" and I had made up
all my own words on the spot, not remembering
the original lyric.
I was told the spontaneous words were very good as well!
Where's a tape recorder when you need one?
That was the new year's eve story. 2008 is here.
Reality sets in after the partying, and then the bills
come in as usual at the month's start. Time to get
back to work.
I have been neglecting my "Alone In Tokyo (Redux)" project
and my book, so those are my priorities right now.
I also have a new maxi single concept I'm thinking of releasing.
It's like being a juggler. I'm my own record company, manager,
and producer in all aspects of my career, so it's a lot of work.
My desk is getting back to normal, strewn with notes to myself,
and the holiday decorations are all coming down bit by bit.
Thank you all for your holiday season cards! Much appreciated.
Oh! I almost forgot!
My youngest daughter went to the movies last night
with her boyfriend and came back with the news
that my song "I love rock n roll" was in the soundtrack
for "Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007)," a feature film.
She stayed around for the credits,
and made sure my name was in the scrawl
at the end of the film, and it was.
That's a lot of names to wade through!

The bad news is that it was not on the Chipmunks
soundtrack album, which will probably sell very well.
So, the new year 2008 is a about week old.
Let's stay on track, and make this year a good one!

She eventually got up and sang harmony with us, and was great!
Happy New Year:
