A reissue of the 1972 CD titled "Rock N Roll" featuring Alan Merrill on bass guitar and Japanese rockabilly legends Mickey Curtis, Yamshita Keijiro, and Hirao Masaaki on vocals is out now.
9/5/08 - The forum section of this website will be improved and updated this month, so get ready to start posting again! Alan Merrill will be doing some local New York shows now that his summer vacation is over, and European and Far East tours are also in the works for the year's end and early 2009.
8/15/08 - Tour dates for the fall are being planned, starting in September, so check the Tour Dates section of this website for information. The now nearly mythical Alan Merrill autobiogaphy is in the final phase, and should be avaialble by the holiday season. Alan has worked the entire summer to finish the book, which by all accounts will be a mind boggling read. You won't be able to put it down once you start reading.
7/15/08 - Recorded during the 1968-1971 time period, Alan Merrill's 17 song long awaited solo album titled "Alien In Tokyo" is set for release this month. The album is almost entirely in Japanese, and includes a vocal duet co-write with the legendary Monsieur Kamayatsu (The Spiders), and a cameo appearances on bass and drums by Alan's long time friends Tetsu Yamauchi and Yuji Harada. - Sad news, Paul Varley, Arrows drummer, has passed away of pneumonia, July 2nd, 2008. Paul Varley RIP.
6/20/08 - Alan Merrill's 16 song solo album titled -"The Aleecat, Live In Japan" is set for release by early this month. Link to lyrics and photos here of the Live In Japan album, recorded in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo in 1990. This includes never released original Merrill compositions. This is pure raw rock 'n roll.
5/15/08 - The previously mentioned Alan Merrill 6 song Maxi single EP titled "Hard Road" will be released and available mid month. Live shows are now in the works for September in Tokyo and beyond. After 40 years in the music business, under his physician's advice Alan Merrill is taking a summer vacation of total rest and recouperation, so no live dates scheduled until the autumn. The forum and journal section of this site will be closed for updates and renovations until Sept. '08.
4/4/08 - New Alan Merrill 6 song Maxi single EP titled "Hard Road" is set for release by the end of this month. As always some live shows are planned for the New York City area, both band backed and solo acoustic. News: Alan is preparing to release a 16 song "Live In Japan" album, recorded in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo, including some never released original Merrill compositions. It should be out next month.

News: Alan is nearing completion of his long awaited autobiography, which is now in the editing phase The Aleecat CD version of "When The Night Comes" machinima on Youtube debuts March 17th!
2/11/08 - Alan is busy recording all this month in New York City, on three different projects. News: Japanese idol singer Mami Kubota has recorded a new and different version of of "I Love Rock 'N Roll," set for release on EMI in May of this year . Also, Alan will do some surprise local New York shows to round out the month.
1/8/08 - The new year started with Alan doing a rave up show in New York City at Nancy's Bar in Manhattan. Also news: Alvin and the Chipmunks have used a version of "I Love Rock 'N Roll" in the new film "Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007). Alan is back in the studio working on a new maxi single and also finishing up work his 1970 solo album reissue "Alone In Tokyo" (Redux), set for release in thenext few months. Solo acoustic Jan. 18th at the Alphabet Lounge, NYC.
