12/8/2012 - This month Alan Merrill made his first appearance at the (click the link) Cafe Wha? in New York's Greenwich Village since 1968, a "full circle" show on Thursday December 6th at 7 PM with his trio, ending his set with "I Love Rock N Roll"- Click here for a photo of Alan (left) at the Cafe Wha? in 1967 with his band Kaleidoscope. He was a regular at the club from 1965-'68 in his semi-pro days. Also, Alan is still busy recording Volume # 4 of his "collections" series in Manhattan at Shelter Island studio with Jon Gordon at the board, due for release in early 2013. Alan has also been busy with interviews and will have an article in next month's Classic Rock magazine in the UK. The Alan Merrill January tour of Germany and England are set and dates have all been finalized. Tickets are on sale now. 11/25/2012 - No live shows this month due to a minor rib injury. Going straight ahead, Alan Merrill has been busy recording Volume # 4 of his "collections" series in Manhattan at Shelter Island studio with Jon Gordon at the board, due for release in early 2013. The legendary Steve Holley has already laid down drum tracks on 11 songs. Alan has also been busy with interviews, both radio, TV, and print. The most recent being the New York Examiner and the Los Angeles Beat publications. On Nov. 21st, Alan Merrill was interviewed extensively by Dutch National Television about his long and interesting career which should be aired next month in Holland. Alan also co-hosted the Rew and Who show interviewing the amazing new rock sensations the Barb Wire Dolls. 10/22/2012 - Alan Merrill has been busy recording Volume # 4 of his "collections" series in Manhattan due for release in early 2013. He's aslo active with frequent solo acoustic and band backed shows at The Knitting Factory (Brooklyn) , BB King's, (Manhattan) and return appearances at Ottos and The Gardens on the lower east side in the New York City area. 8/22/2012 - It's been a busy August for Alan Merrill with frequent solo acoustic and band backed trio shows at, Kenny's Castaways and a return appearance at The Gardens and on the lower east side in New York City. An electric trio show at the Grand Victory Club in Brooklyn was a great success early this month. Alan Merrill now has a trio that play songs he's composed from past recordings with his bands Vodka Collins and the Arrows. . New on youtube! An Alan Merrill song from his solo album The Face Of 69, "Long Shot" - Last but not least the Freddie Scott album title track "Brand New Man" (2001) co-written by Alan Merrill is also recently posted on Youtube. Alan also co-hosted the Rew & Who show August 15th, and it was a terrific show with lots of fun guests.
7/21/2012 - Recent frequent solo acoustic and a band backed trio show at the Bowery Electric (with Amy Maddenon bass and Adrian Harpham, drums) in the New York City and surrounding areas as usual. See the "tour dates and appearances" section of this website for more information. An electric show at the Bowery Electric was a great success. Alan Merrill now has a trio that showcase songs he's composed from past recordings with his bands Vodka Collins and the Arrows. Also solo acoustic shows at The Gardens, The R Bar and Smith's Tavern were all fun events. An electric trio show is planned for 8:30 PM at the R Bar in NYC on July 26th, with Amy Madden on bass and Mark Brotter on drums playing Arrows and Vodka Collins hit songs. New on youtube, the Arrows songs "Love Child" and "Let Me Love You" from the band's First Hit album (1976) featuring Alan Merrill on vocals. Last but not least the soundtrack album for "Rock Of Ages (the Film)" has been #1 in the Billboard album soundtracks for 6 weeks featuring Alan Merrill's best known composition "I Love Rock N Roll."
6/15/2012 - Solo acoustic and band backed trio shows (with Amy Madden, bass and Adrian Harpham, drums) in the New York City and surrounding areas as usual this month. See the "tour dates and appearances" section of this website for more information. An electric show at the Branded Saloon for the Rew and Who show 2nd anniversary was a great success. From the album "Numbers" a youtube clip of the song "New York City" was recently posted with "Keep On Comin'" both remastered versions. "Numbers" is available at CD Baby for sale and download. Alan Merrill now has a trio featuring songs from Alan's past with his bands Vodka Collins and the Arrows. Alan Merrill did his third annual appreance outdoors at the Mississippi Day Picnic in New York City's Central Park where he performed and got two encores, closing the show. Last but not least the soundtrack album for "Rock Of Ages (the Film)" has been released this month featuring Alan Merrill's best known composition "I Love Rock N Roll." More to come!

An hour long solo acoustic show in Rockville Maryland at the Parilla Art's Center on May 5th started off the month as special guest of The Left Banke. From the new solo album "Snakes and Ladders" a youtube clip of the song "Somebody Special" was recently posted. Snakes and Ladders is available at CD Baby for sale and download. Alan Merrill will be appearing next month on May 19th at Uncle Mike's in downtown NYC for an electric show. A solo acoustic set the following day for a Cure For Cancer benefit on May 20th. Last but not least! - Alan Merrill rounds out the month with a glam rock bash at Le Crunch, at Zebulon May 26th in Brooklyn, on stage at 11 PM, and this is a band backed show featuring songs from Alan's past with his bands Vodka Collins and the Arrows.

Shows at BB Kings (band backed) as special guest of The Left Banke on April 29th and Le Poisson Rouge (solo acoustic) on April 11th highlight the month. From the new solo album "Snakes and Ladders" youtube clips of the songs "Radio" "Rain Chasing Dreams", "Wait For It" and "No Speed Limit" were recently posted. The song "Restless Soul" appears on the Flower Travelin' Band keyboard player Shinohara Nobuhiko's debut solo album.

Alan also celebrated the life of George Harrison with "Taxman" and other Beatles songs plus his own material at the Mercury Lounge. If that's not enough, well, from the new solo album "Snakes and Ladders" a youtube clip of the songs "Me, You" and "Everyday All Night Stand" were recently posted. Alan Merrill will be appearing March 26th at a club called The Living Room in Manhattan at a singer / songwriter event starting at 7 PM, making a cameo 2 song appearance.
2/13/2012 - Lots of solo acoustic and band backed shows in the New York City area this month. Also lots of radio interviews. Alan Merrill's new album "Snakes and Ladders" was featured in the fashion show for "Bare Necessities" clothing line on Feb. 10th for Fashion Week at the Warwick Hotel in Manhattan. Some new clips on youtube from the new album including the autobiographical song "Rain Chasing Dreams." Alan Merrill's birhtday party jam at Hill Country NY, an electric band backed show was a great success with songs like "Slow Down" and "I Love Rock N Roll" caught on phone camera by publicist Ida S. Langsam. More shows at the Mercury Lounge and Arlene's Grocery, solo acoustic next month.
1/3/2012 - NEW! Alan Merrill's latest album "Snakes and Ladders" (the collections, volume 3) is released. The album photos, information and the lyrics to "Snakes and Ladders" are linked here. Alan will be performing solo acoustic at Otto's (14th street between avenues A & B) in New York City on January 16th. Alan Merrill and the New Arrows website has been updated! More news soon!
